DECEMBER 2024
Congratulations to Our PMx expert, Catherine M Sherwin Ph.D. for her latest publication on "Optimal Dosing in Pediatrics"!
We are excited to share that our pharmacometrics expert, Catherine M. Sherwin, Ph.D., has recently published a study on The Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics (JPPT) titled "Optimal Dosing Recommendations of Clonidine in Critically Ill Pediatric Patients Using Population Pharmacokinetics." Clonidine is widely used in the pediatric population for conditions such as neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), sedation, and Tourette's syndrome.
Despite its broad use, there has been no consensus on optimal dosing for children.
Dr. Sherwin's research addresses this critical gap by employing physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling to recommend precise dosing strategies tailored to pediatric patients' unique needs. This work equips clinicians with the tools needed to improve safety and efficacy in the treatment of these conditions.
